Job Summary:

The Donation Services Associate I is often the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers. They provide excellent customer service by greeting customers promptly and assisting as needed, which may include lifting or unloading donations from vehicles or other areas. Associates are expected to handle donated goods with care and respect.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide excellent customer service, greet customers promptly, and answer product questions as needed.
2. Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
3. Handle donated items carefully, sorting them into appropriate bins or production areas.
4. Inspect donations and determine quality for sorting for sale or shipment.
5. Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment for customers and staff at donation areas.
6. Manage remote donation centers, following proper opening and closing procedures.
7. Keep supplies stocked at remote sites as needed.
8. Track and report donation levels daily to prevent overstocking.
9. Follow all retail policies and safety procedures.
10. Cross-train in other departments and act as a backup as required.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Successful performance requires meeting the following requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience preferred.
• Ability to make decisions following Goodwill standards.
• Basic computer skills for logging and communication.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Use safety equipment for heavy lifting.
• Effective communication skills with customers and staff.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime.
