Job summary

Georgia Aquarium, Inc. is seeking a part-time Diver I, Dive Maintenance to perform working dives and assist with maintenance and repair of exhibits.

The role follows OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart T regulations for commercial diving and emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to the Diving Operations Manual. Responsibilities include hands-on dive work, training of diving personnel, equipment inspection, preventative maintenance of air systems, and collaboration with Life Support and Zoological

Responsibilities

• Participates in professional development as needed.
• Assist with instruction and training of all diving personnel; sharing knowledge with others in a team
• Meets all applicable requirements as outlined in Georgia Aquarium’s Diving Operations and Procedures Manual.
• Adheres to dive safety policies and procedures.
• Maintains, inspects, and repairs dive equipment ensuring all is within the proper operating parameters to provide a safe working environment for the divers.
• Maintains preventative maintenance on breathable air systems while maintaining precise records.
• Helps to ensure that all divers are following policies set forth by the Dive Control Board.
• Perform both working and scientific dives in support of the program mission on a regular basis.
• Take active role in the aquarium’s exhibit maintenance and repair program, which will include, leak detection and repair via applied injection techniques and underwater acrylic restoration polishing.
• Assist Zoological Operations and Life Support Systems staff in the repairs and modifications of the LSS systems.
• Assist with the inventory of all related diving equipment and parts.
• Maintain the highest standards of work area cleanliness at all times.
• Interface effectively with other departments to maintain the highest standards of quality.
• As needed, interact on behalf of Georgia Aquarium, with guests, media, public, etc.
• Perform other duties as workload necessitates.
• Effectively express ideas verbally and non-verbally and actively listen to individuals and groups.
• Expresses ideas clearly and concisely in written form using letters, reports, and other documents.
