Job summary

Lasell University in Newton, MA, is seeking an Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach for distance and middle-distance events. This part-time role includes supporting both men’s and women’s teams across cross country and indoor/outdoor seasons, reporting to the head coach and collaborating with other staff.

The ideal candidate will assist in athlete development, recruitment, and program operations, with practices and meets on a varied schedule and a stipend to be determined with the head

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; emphasis on athletics or related field.
• Coaching experience preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license required to transport athletes.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and instruction to student-athletes in distance and middle-distance events.
• Develop a weekly training schedule and communicate it to athletes.
• Attend practices on weekdays and meets, mostly Fridays and Saturdays.
• Oversee strength/plyometrics with staff, ensuring correct execution.
• Assist with meet entries online by deadlines.
• Assist with recruiting student-athletes who meet academic standards.
• Demonstrate leadership and model sportsmanship.
• Comply with Lasell University, NCAA and GNAC bylaws and philosophies.
• Ensure setup/cleanup of equipment for distance training.
• Handle other duties as assigned by head coach or Athletics Director.
