Job summary

The Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Distance Coach for the Fall Season (Sept 4–Oct 26). Coaching duties include delivering curriculum, supervising a high-quality team, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for 7–15 year-olds at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, NJ.

Position requires 18+ years old, CPR/First Aid credentials, Track & Field knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to handle emergencies with professionalism.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications required.
• Have knowledge of Track & Field programs and specific sport skills.
• Have good communication skills with children and parents.
• Have good organizational skills.
• Be able to lift heavy equipment and conduct rigorous practices.
• Demonstrate the ability to lead during emergencies to protect participants.
• Present yourself as a mature, professional leader at all times.

Responsibilities

• Deliver curriculum for different skill levels.
• Coach, supervise and operate a quality team by demonstrating YMCA values.
• Communicate in advance any scheduling conflicts.
• Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis regarding the programs.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Provide and maintain a safe program environment at all times.
• Be responsible for the safety of all participants.
• Follow proper emergency procedures at all times.
• Demonstrate a mature, professional attitude in the workplace.
• React appropriately to all emergencies.
• Uphold Risk Management Standards at all times.
• Perform other duties and assignments as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
