Job Summary:
Performs duties such as preparation of items to be served during meals in a safe and sanitary manner. Preforms all cleaning duties as assigned. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas.
Qualifications:
Is willing and able to follow instructions precisely. Works independently to complete tasks. Is a reliable and dependable resource for support in all dietary procedures. Performs duties maintaining safety and sanitary conditions.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices):
- Must be able to move intermittently, walk, and stand most of the shift
- Must be able to speak and write in English
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable theses senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position are fully met
- Must function independently, have the flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with all persons
- Must meet the general hwalth requirements set forth by policy
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- Must be available if necessary to assist in the evacuation of the residents during emergency situations
Duties:
- Completes all prep work as assigned prior to meal service.
- Keeps work areas neat and clean
- Follows proper protocol for handwashing
- Handles clean and dirty dishes in a sanitary manner
- Assists the cook in plating meals for service
- Presoaks flatware and other heavily soiled items prior to passing through dish machine
- Understands and properly operates dish washing equipment, changing water as needed throughout the process
- Ensures dishwashing and rinse temperatures are registering correctly during dishwashing procedures
- Properly handles china, glassware and other items to prevent breakage
- Stores clean china, glassware and flatware properly to maintain sanitary conditions
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment, walls, counters, and floor in the dish area
- Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- Operates all kitchen equipment safely per guidelines
- Disposes trash as directed. Maintain sanitary conditions around dumpsters, keeping doors and lids of dumpsters closed.
- Performs all cleaning duties as assigned by Cook/Dining Room Supervisor and/or Food Service Director
- Assists in receiving deliveries, ensuring rotation of stock when putting items away
- Handles and stores all cleaning supplies properly. Restocks cleaning items as needed
- May be required to assist in Resident evacuation from the Residence during an emergency
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor
