Job summary

ARCO, a nonprofit United Way agency, seeks compassionate Direct Support Workers to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their daily living in Monroe, Louisiana.

The role is part-time with a fixed weekly shift. You will help with personal care, daily activities, transportation, and community participation while documenting progress and ensuring participant safety.

Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with individuals with various disabilities and needs.
• Comfortable using a computer and tablet for documentation and communication.
• Experience in supportive care or similar roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure participants receive support to safely complete daily schedules
• Assist with personal hygiene, light housecleaning, meal prep, shopping and errands, medical appointments, and medication administration
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe household for participants
• Plan and implement engaging activities to promote socialization and community involvement
• Handle and use adaptive equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, lifts etc.
• Document participants’ daily activities
