Royal Community Support – Hackensack Branch is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one, in-home and community-based support for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in New Jersey. The role emphasizes person-centered care, skill-building, and meaningful engagement in daily activities.

The DSP assists with daily living, transportation, and community participation while maintaining dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Reliable personal vehicle (community-based support required).
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
• Authorized to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living skills (bathing, dressing, grooming).
• Support housekeeping tasks (laundry, dishes, tidying, light cleaning).
• Prepare meals according to dietary needs.
• Teach and reinforce independent living skills.
• Follow individualized service plans and behavior support strategies.
• Provide transportation to appointments and community activities.
• Encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
• Promote safety and well‑being at all times.
• Maintain professional communication with guardians and agency staff.
