Job summary

The Arc of Greater Prince William / INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Residential Services team at a group home in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the DSP provides direct care and support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a residential group home. DSPs assist individuals with activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, personal choice, and community

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable three-year driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate an organizational vehicle (bus/van).
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks and health screenings.
  • Ability to complete required trainings including CPR, First Aid, AED, and MAT if applicable.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use THERAP for documentation.
  • Ability to assist individuals with personal care with dignity and respect.
  • Compassion, patience, sound judgment, professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered direct care and support based on ISP goals.
  • Assist with daily living activities: hygiene, grooming, dressing, meals, chores.
  • Promote independence, community involvement and meaningful participation.
  • Provide safe transportation to day programs, medical appointments, activities.
  • Plan and participate in recreational and skill-building activities.
  • Ensure health, safety, and well-being at all times.
  • Administer medications per physician orders and MAT if certified.
  • Follow behavior support plans and crisis-intervention procedures.
  • Complete THERAP documentation and progress notes accurately.
  • Maintain privacy, dignity, and human rights of individuals.
  • Report incidents, injuries, and suspected abuse or neglect promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and participate in meetings/trainings.

  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality and participate in required meetings and training.
What We're Looking For
