Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional in New Jersey to help adults with developmental disabilities live independently and participate in their homes and communities.

Paid on-the-job training will be provided. The role emphasizes person-centered support, daily living assistance, and community participation, with evening, overnight, and weekend shifts available and pay of $20.70–$24.70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five points.
• Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including assisting individuals with mobility and completing household tasks as needed.

As a Part-Time Direct Support Professional with The Arc of Ocean County, you'll help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independently and participate fully in their homes and communities. Your support may include everything from assisting with daily routines and personal care to encouraging new skills, facilitating community activities, and creating opportunities for meaningful connection.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who values patience, respect, reliability, and person‑centered support. Previous DSP experience is not required—we provide paid on‑the‑job training to help you build the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

Position at a Glance

Employment Type: Part‑Time

Available Shifts:

• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM
• Weekend Day & Evening Shifts Available
• Weekend Availability Required

Pay: $20.70 – $24.70 per hour

• Complete accurate electronic records, including daily progress notes, medication records, and other required program documentation.
• Maintain effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Follow agency policies and residential procedures to support quality services and regulatory compliance.
