Job summary

A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias is offering a part-time Digital Archives Internship in Salt Lake City, UT. Work with archivists to review and prepare historical records for online publication and gain experience in archives.

The internship is year-long and 28 hours per week during regular business hours, with supervision by the Access Services team lead in the Church History Department. Interns must be enrolled students or within a year of graduation and be temple-worthy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in history or allied field required.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Knowledge of historiography and LDS Church History.
• Ability to read cursive and/or hard-to-read handwriting.
• Respect for confidentiality.
• Experience in research or archives.
• Experience teaching or training.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Willingness to learn and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist volunteers in reviewing manuscript collections for sacred, private, and confidential information for online publication.
• Prepare assignments and audit volunteer work.
• Mentor and train volunteers in tasks including basic computer skills.
• Review manuscript collections for sacred, private, and confidential information.
• Update and correct catalog entries and collection registers.
• Help manage a high-volume workflow.
• Learn and apply department record access policies.
• Engage in directed readings in Church history and professional literature.
• Work under the Access Services team lead in Archives and Area Support.
