Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of at-risk youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Dietary Cook at Childhelp, Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, Virginia.
We offer a $500 sign-On bonus! $250 after 90 days of employment and $250 after 180 days of employment.
Childhelp is a psychiatric residential treatment facility specializing in the treatment of children aged 5-14 with trauma, neglect, psychiatric, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Our location on a 270-acre farm provides a nurturing setting with various therapy resources. We aim to bring love and healing into the lives of children suffering from abuse, neglect, and psychiatric or behavioral issues. Pay: Starting at $17/hour, negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities: As a Dietary Cook, you will prepare high-quality, attractive meals that meet the nutritional needs of residents, including special therapeutic diets as prescribed by physicians. You will cook for up to 150 people, including residents and staff, and handle all kitchen functions such as cooking, cleaning, dishes, and serving. We are committed to a friendly, professional, and sanitary environment, following USDA and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards, and applying HACCP principles to all food received and prepared.
Minimum Qualifications: Be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have at least one year of meal preparation experience in a school or institutional setting, hold a valid unrestricted Virginia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years, and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.
Schedule: 24 hours weekly. Option 1: Sunday 8AM-6PM, Monday 5AM-3PM, Tuesday 5AM-9AM. Option 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 5AM-1PM.
