Job summary

MercyOne Health System is seeking a part-time Dietary Assistant to support nutrition services for patients and residents. You will help assemble and deliver meals, assist with dishwashing and cleaning, and maintain a sanitary environment in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The role requires basic reading and math, strong communication, and a professional demeanor. Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, are common, with PRN scheduling to meet departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to communicate positively, maintain confidentiality, and behave professionally.
• Effective communication is essential in interactions with patients/residents and staff.
• Ability to read, speak, and follow simple instructions, and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembling and delivering patient trays/meals according to guidelines.
• Work in the dish room and perform cleaning-related duties to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Maintain a safe, clean foodservice environment and properly operate cleaning equipment.
• Prepare dishes and utensils for washing; store items properly after cleaning.
• Support station setup and contribute to ongoing patient/resident nutrition needs.
