Job summary

Onward Education, in partnership with a Cook County school district, seeks a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) for the 2026-2027 school year to support students with hearing loss through accessible instruction and language, communication, and social-emotional skill development.

The role is on-site, part-time (20 hours/week) with collaboration across the school team and families, accommodations, assistive technology, and inclusive classroom strategies to ensure full curriculum access.

Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
• DHH endorsement (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and/or small-group instruction aligned to IEP goals for students who are deaf/hard of hearing.
• Support students' communication development (may include sign language, oral communication support, and/or total communication approaches as appropriate).
• Help ensure access to instruction through accommodations and modifications, visual supports, and accessible materials.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education team members, service providers, and families to support student progress.
• Support use of assistive technology and classroom strategies that reduce communication barriers.
• Participate in team meetings and documentation aligned to district expectations (IEP support, progress monitoring, etc.).
