Job summary

Contech Engineered Solutions is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for part-time work at our West Chester, OH corporate headquarters. You will collaborate with Engineering and CAD teams to prepare submittals, drawings, and calculations for customers, focusing on precast bridge products and project solutions.

The role requires a civil/structural engineering background, familiarity with AutoCAD and structural analysis tools, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; civil with structural emphasis.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Excel required.
• Experience with AutoCAD, finite element analysis, and/or structural analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings and calculations, review project plans, develop project solutions, and provide technical advice.
• Perform structural analysis and design of bridge elements (superstructures, foundations, retaining walls).
• Coordinate with field sales and manufacturing teams on design, manufacture, and installation questions.

Our Structures team specializes in developing engineering solutions for short to medium span bridges on a national scale. This collaborative team comprises professionals from various disciplines, including Engineering, CAD, Sales, and Operations. About the Role:

As a Structural Design Engineer at Contech, you will play a critical role in collaborating with our Engineering and CAD teams to prepare engineering and drawing submittals for customers. Your responsibilities include:

• Product Integration: Assist the field sales team in seamlessly integrating Contech's products into site plans, focusing on Contech's precast concrete bridge products. This involves preparation of engineering drawings and calculations, review of project plans, development of project solutions, and providing technical advice.
• Structural Analysis and Design: Perform structural analysis and design of bridge elements, including superstructures, foundations, and retaining walls. Provide essential technical support to the manufacturing team as needed to ensure the proper fabrication of Contech products.
• Coordination: Coordinate efforts with field sales and manufacturing teams to address questions and concerns related to the proper design, manufacture, and installation of Contech's products.
• Specifications: Maintain a working knowledge of governing specifications covering Contech products and contribute to the development, writing, and modification of such specifications.
• Technical Papers and Literature: Assist in writing and developing technical papers and product literature necessary to support, promote, and train stakeholders on Contech products.
• Professional Development: Stay updated with knowledge and certifications in the civil/structural engineering field. Attend industry trade shows, continuing education courses, and seminars as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required, strong preference for degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred.
• Minimum 2-years of experience working on civil engineering projects preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Excel required.
• Experience with AutoCAD, finite element analysis, and/or structural analysis software is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to develop and maintain strong team and client relationships.
• High level of analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
