Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. in Clayton, NM is seeking a Dentist to provide a full range of general dentistry services on a 20-hour weekly schedule, with option for biweekly 40 hours. You will oversee staff, perform radiographs, and coordinate referrals within a correctional healthcare setting.

The role requires a DDS/DMD, active state license, DEA, CPR, and at least 1 year of dental practice experience. Correctional experience is preferred, and strong clinical, diagnostic, and procedural skills

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree required.
• Active unrestricted dental license in state of practice.
• Board certification or board-eligibility in dentistry.
• Active DEA license required.
• Active CPR certification required.
• Minimum one year practicing dentistry; correctional experience preferred.
• Strong clinical, diagnostic, and procedural skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-demand environment while delivering compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of general dentistry services (preventive, restorative, surgical, periodontal, endodontic, prosthodontic) per facility policy.
• Oversee staff in cleanings, impressions for prosthetics, oral hygiene programs, and accurate recordkeeping.
• Perform and interpret radiographic examinations.
• Arrange appropriate referrals for procedures not performed on-site.
• Set treatment priorities and determine appropriateness of non-routine care.
• Document all examinations using applicable dental classification systems (e.g., APHA).
• Maintain dental office security, including instrument, medication, and needle counts.
• Submit monthly dental department activity reports.
• Develop and update departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in staff development and ensure compliance with facility standards.
