Job summary

PHC University Clinic in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Part-Time Dental Assistant to support dentists and staff in patient care, office and lab duties. The role offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus and a 12:30–5:30 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, with mileage/shift coverage as needed.

This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus, paid as installments. Expanded Functions training may lead to higher pay; first-year compensation aligns with the posted hourly range.

Qualifications

• Completion of a accredited dental assisting program or equivalent training meeting Iowa Dental Board requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operatory setup and materials for patient visits.
• Greets patients and builds rapport with care and compassion.
• Records patient health history, blood pressure and pulse.
• Collects and submits patient services and billing information.
• Assists care providers and supports patients before, during and after procedures.
• Completes dental x-rays in compliance with regulations.
• Maintains dental instruments, materials and inventory.
• Pre-cleaning/sterile processing of instruments as assigned.
• Maintains patient records and related documents.
