Job summary

Commonwealth Dentistry is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join our growing group practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Ashland, VA. You will support the dentist during treatments, manage radiographs, monitor patient comfort, and uphold infection control standards in a collaborative team environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of dental assisting experience, strong communication, organizational skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of dental assisting experience.
• X-Ray Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentist during treatment procedures.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
• Obtain patient medical histories and monitor vital signs.
• Serve as infection control officer.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Make patients comfortable before, during and after treatment.
• Provide post-treatment oral care instructions and teach oral hygiene.
• Take impressions of patients' teeth.
• Assist in all dental specialties.

We are a growing, group practice dedicated to providing exceptional dental care to our patients. As a Dental Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive staff and contribute to delivering an unmatched dental experience.

The role of a Dental Assistant is diverse and involves a combination of interpersonal and technical skills. Your responsibilities will include assisting the dentist during various treatment procedures, taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays), asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse, serving as an infection control officer, preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment, helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment, providing instructions for post-treatment oral care, teaching oral hygiene strategies, taking impressions of patients' teeth, and assisting in all dental specialties.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 2 years of experience in dental assisting. X-Ray Certification is preferred. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to provide compassionate patient care. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work well within a team are also important.
