Job Overview:

Provides direct, prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Interacts with customers for their immediate selection of various fresh meats, cheeses, salads, bakery, and hot foods from the deli department. Handles food safely and maintains a clean work area.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience, making customers feel valued.
• Greets customers warmly, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
• Answers the department telephone promptly, providing helpful service to callers.
• Handles customer orders at the deli counter, slices, weighs, labels, and wraps products.
• Reviews daily orders and processes them accordingly.
• Maintains proper sanitation and cleanliness of the work area.
• Checks food for freshness and monitors temperatures of hot and cold units.
• Prepares, replenishes, and finishes products as needed.
• Receives and stores product, reviews invoices, and manages inventory control.
• Ensures compliance with local health regulations.
• Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Visual acuity, including color vision and depth perception.
• Ability to handle refrigerated and frozen items safely.
• Ability to participate in preparing salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
• Proficiency in operating slicers and fryers safely.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good judgment in situations with limited supervision.
