Job summary

Somerset County Public Schools is seeking a part-time Adult Education Day Time Instructor to lead adult basic education classes in a correctional facility setting. The role centers on Math and literacy, with assessment and attendance tracking, in the Princess Anne area two days per week.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, strong math and computer skills, and the ability to work with adult learners. Spanish is a plus, MSDE certification is preferred or eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education.
• Strong math and computer skills are essential.
• Experience with adult populations preferred.
• Spanish language ability is a plus.
• Must hold or be eligible for MSDE certificate.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in adult basic education, focusing on math and literacy.
• Maintain accurate student testing and attendance records.
• Manage classroom dynamics in a detention/ correctional facility environment.
• Adhere to Maryland Adult Education Standards and program requirements.
