Position Overview

Under the direction of the Chief Custodian, the Custodian will provide a safe, healthy, and clean building. Responsibilities include cleaning, minor and preventative maintenance, snow removal, and grounds work. The Custodian shall enforce state rules, regulations, and district policies to ensure the optimal operation of the educational program. This is a 12-month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms, carpets, and blinds.
• Perform minor maintenance: replacing light bulbs, painting, cleaning boilers, caring for lawn equipment.
• Assist with grounds keeping: shoveling, snow/ice removal, grass trimming, debris clearing.
• Assist with deliveries and supply management.
• Secure and open the building, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
• Other custodial and maintenance duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance and follow instructions.
• Good physical health and strength for lifting and cleaning tasks.

Physical Requirements

Regularly speaking and exchanging ideas, learning, recalling, and applying skills. Ability to perform moderate physical effort, operate cleaning and maintenance equipment, and lift 40-50 pounds. Work environment mainly school facilities.

Pre-employment Requirements

• Criminal background check and tuberculosis test.
• Provide identification, employment eligibility documentation, and complete required forms.
