Job summary

The Joliet Park District is seeking a part-time Dance, Cheer, and Pom Instructor in Joliet, Illinois. You will prepare lesson plans, choreograph routines, and teach up to 14 students per class while maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.

Applicants should have experience in dance, cheer, or pom, be able to supervise students in the classroom, and communicate with parents. CPR/First Aid certification is required or obtained upon hire.

Qualifications

• Have experience/knowledge in dance, cheer, and/or pom

Responsibilities

• Supervise the arrival and dismissal of children.
• Develop daily lesson plans according to the syllabus for each level or genre
• Supervise children at all times when at dance, cheer or pom
• Prepare, choreograph dances, cheer, or pom routines
• Assist with recitals and performances.
• Interact with participants and parents and be able to answer any questions.
• Meet with Recreation Superintendent periodically.
• Maintain a safe learning environment.
• Administer First Aid as needed according to the Park District’s Communicable Disease Policy.
• Understand the Park District’s safety procedures and requirements. Report all incidents and potential hazards to the Recreation Superintendent as soon as possible.
• Attend in-service training sessions.
• Distribute Park District information when requested.
• Assist other employees of the Park District as needed.
• Work in conjunction with other dance, cheer, or pom staff.
