Job summary

Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii is seeking a Dance Instructor I / Program Aide to support basic dance instruction for youth and community participants. You will help lead classes, ensure safety, and foster an inclusive, faith-friendly environment aligned with our mission.

The role is part-time and on-site in Ewa Beach, requiring weekend hours, strong communication, and a passion for youth development and performing arts. Prior dance or theater experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of dance and/or theater experience.
• Experience with children ages 3 and up.
• Ability to lead and assist group/class activities.
• Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to interact positively with diverse populations.
• Holistic youth development including spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical well-being.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in teaching dance classes with supervision.
• Support implementation of lesson plans.
• Demonstrate movements and assist students individually or in small groups.
• Help prepare students for performances, recitals, and events.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment; greet and orient new students and parents to class procedures.
• Build positive relationships with students and encourage participation.
• Handle minor disputes professionally and escalate when appropriate.
• Set up/break down classrooms and maintain organization of equipment.
• Maintain attendance records and assist with administrative tasks.
• Support coordination and execution of events and off-site programs as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to participants and families; communicate clearly with students, parents, volunteers and staff.
