Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times and performs cleaning tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Monitors heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to maintain appropriate temperatures and conserve energy.
• Shovels, plows, and sands walks and grounds; maintains cleanliness of grounds.
• Checks exit doors daily to ensure operation during occupancy.
• Makes minor repairs; reports major repairs to supervisor.
• Maintains all mechanical equipment.
• Opens and closes building; ensures doors/windows are secured and lights are off after shift.
• Arms/disarms security system according to shift.
• Moves furniture as required for activities.
• Complies with disposal of trash and waste.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Description

A current vacancy exists for a Part Time Custodian atBlockson Middle School within the Norristown Area School District.

Requirements:

• Two years of FT custodial experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Keeps building and premise, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times; performs building cleaning tasks as necessary or directed by supervisor
• Monitorsheat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems toensure temperaturesare appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity
• Shovels, plows, and sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate; maintains cleanliness of grounds
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and are operating properly during hours of building occupancy
• Makes minor repairs; reports all major repairs to supervisor
• Maintains all mechanical equipment
• Reports any damage to school property to supervisor
• Remains on the premises during assigned hours
• Opens or closes building as appropriate to shift;makes surethat all doors and windows are secured, and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off before leaving the building at the end of assigned shift
• Arms anddisarmssecurity system, as appropriate to shift
• Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the supervisor
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste
• Performs related duties as assigned

Hours: 2:30p - 6:30p

Pay Rate:$27.18/HR
