Job summary

The City of Concord is seeking a dedicated custodian to help maintain a clean and safe environment across multiple City facilities in Concord, NC. Employment is contingent on successful fingerprint screening, without which access to City buildings may be restricted.

Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, window washing, dusting, and kitchen cleaning. Applicants should be capable of standing, walking, lifting, and performing other physical tasks as described, with preferred NC

• Experience with cleaning floors (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing) and maintaining cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning solutions and chemical safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintains walking surfaces by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, burnishing, stripping, and waxing; maintains equipment used for cleaning floors.
• Ensures cleanliness of restrooms by disinfecting, filling soap and towel dispensers, emptying trash receptacles, and cleaning stall walls, doors, and showers.
• Performs window-washing duties using ladders, cloths, window mops, and squeegees for interior and exterior surfaces.
• Dusts furniture, walls, windowsills, and other woodwork.
• Cleans kitchen using proper cleaning solutions and personal protection.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to provide a clean and safe environment in a variety of buildings throughout the City.

Please Note: An offer of employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a fingerprint screening. If the incumbent fails to obtain clearance through the fingerprint screening, they will not be able to access all necessary City buildings and therefore, may be subject to termination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains walking surfaces by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, burnishing, stripping, and waxing; maintains equipment used for cleaning floors
• Ensures cleanliness of restrooms by disinfecting, filling soap and towel dispensers, emptying trash receptacles, and cleaning stall walls, doors, and showers
• Performs window-washing duties by utilizing a ladder or step stool, cloths, windows mops, and squeegees to clean inside and outside windows
• Dusts furniture, walls, windowsills, and other woodwork
• Cleans kitchen using proper cleaning solutions and personal protection

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Positions in this class require: standing, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking

• Medium Work: Exerting 20 - 50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.

• Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, physical hazards.
