Job summary

City of Ballwin is seeking a part-time custodian for The Pointe at Ballwin Commons Recreation Center. Responsible for daily cleaning, room setups, light maintenance and proper use of cleaning equipment. Must be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Work 20 hours per week, including nights, weekends and some holidays, indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive city image and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completed.
• Minimum of one year custodial or related experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to work 20 hours/week, including nights, weekends and some holidays.
• Current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning and maintenance of City facilities.

Performs manual work including room set-ups, light maintenance and general care of cleaning equipment. Essential Job Functions:Responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the City facilities to insure the safety and enjoyment of the public and the City staff.Maintains proper cleaning procedures and safe use of all equipment.Performs routine cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, buffing, waxing, window washing, operating floor cleaner, cleaning/preventative maintenance of cleaning equipment, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, and general exterior of facilities.Perform room setups and tear downs in meeting rooms or event locations including moving tables and chairs in a safe and timely manner.Coordinate and cooperate with co-workers and fellow employees to assure job functions are handled in a safe and timely manner.Communicates effectively with employees and the public.Ability to prioritize cleaning tasks and follow an effective preventive maintenance program.Coordinate the cleaning and set up of meeting rooms and gymnasiums as deemed necessary.Assist with the enforcement of building policies.Assist with special events.Knowledge, skills and abilities required:Ability to work with the public and City staff in a professional manner.Knowledge of general cleaning practices and procedures.Ability to work independently and efficiently without routine supervision.Maintain a positive image for the City of Ballwin and the Department of Parks and Recreation.Ability to work with interruptions during periods of high volume, while meeting deadlines.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors, under a variety of weather conditions.Able to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to understand and work within safety guidelines.Equipment used to perform the job:City vehicle, vacuum cleaner, small hand tools, scrubbers, buffer, mop, broom, cleaning chemicals and general cleaning supplies.## QualificationsEducation, Qualifications and experience required:High school diploma or GED completion.Minimum of one year custodial or work related experience preferred.Must be at least 18 years of age.Able to work 20 hours/week, which will include nights, weekends and some holidays.Must be very flexible with work shifts and accommodating with extra hours as needed.Current driver's license
