Job summary

Sinclair Community College’s Training Academy in Dayton, OH seeks a part-time Criminal Justice Academy Instructor to join the Department of Criminal Justice. Roles include teaching state-m curriculum certified by OPOTA, with up to 28 hours weekly and a $36.59 hourly wage; must reside in OH, IN, or KY or be able to work in those states.

SCC restricts part-time employment to these states for compliance. Applicants should have a high school diploma, 5 years of full-time law enforcement experience,

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant, full-time law enforcement experience.
• Completion of an instructor training program approved by the executive director consisting of a minimum of forty clock hours which shall include instruction in the theories of learning and adult education, teaching techniques, lesson plan development and usage, behavioral objectives, student evaluation and measurement, role playing, the use of audio-visual aids and an exercise in practice teaching.
• Instructor training programs taught at the Ohio peace officer training academy; by the department of education; the state highway patrol; a college or educational institution or other programs which in the opinion of the executive director are equivalent to those set out, will be acceptable.
• Completion of an instructor-level training program approved by the executive director, which will allow a person to learn specific knowledge and skills in a unit for which certification is requested.
• Recommendation of a current basic training school commander

Responsibilities

• State certified instructors teach the mandated state curriculum to students and may test cadets to determine if student performance standards are being met.
• The Training Academy, part of the Department of Criminal Justice at Sinclair Community College, offers both pre-service and in-service training to support the needs of area law enforcement and corrections agencies.
