Job summary

Hocking College is seeking a semi-skilled painter to perform maintenance-related painting tasks for repair, reconfiguration, construction and restoration on campus. You will read blueprints and codes to ensure accurate work and uphold safety standards, while providing customer service to college departments and the public.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, familiarity with building trades, and adherence to state and institutional policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in maintenance, repair or related fields is preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance.
• Knowledge of building trades and codes including carpentry, electrical, HVAC and painting.

Overview

Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities or designee, semi-skilled labor in the performance of painting for repair, reconfiguration, construction, and/or restoration. Provide customer service to College departments, staff, students, representatives, partners and to the public. Must adhere to Ohio, OSHA and institutional safety standards and procedures and State, Federal and institutional policies; perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary: $18.00

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled labor in the performance of painting for repair, reconfiguration, construction, and/or restoration.
• Read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, instructional drawings, and building codes as necessary to perform accurate and necessary painting.
• Plan, prioritize, and complete work in the most efficient way while working in accordance with all city, state, and federal codes.
• Perform general clean-up and organization of work area (SCORE— Safety, Cleanliness, Organization, Responsiveness, and Efficiency).
• Present continuing recommendations for institutional process improvements.
• Follow institution and state purchasing processes and procedures in the procurement of tools, materials, and services.
• Provide customer service to College departments, staff, students, representatives and partners and to the public.
• Work indoors and outdoors, in inclement weather, at special events, on campus, across multiple campus locations, and off-campus locations.
• Follow all College policies and procedures in relation to all duties performed.
• Engage in professional development activities and gain industry certification and licensure as applicable.
• Use technology in the performance of daily communication, record keeping, proposals, schedules and asset and inventory tracking.
• Work with student employees in the successful daily operations of the institution.
• Perform and complete other work as assigned.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills

• High School diploma or GED
• Previous employment in maintenance, repair or related experience
• Mechanical or trade certification and licensure and ability to gain certs if required
• Working knowledge of building trades and codes in:
• Carpentry
• Electrical
• H.V.A.C.
• Painting
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations including safety practices in the performance of semi-skilled labor in preventative maintenance, maintenance, repair, reconfiguration, construction, demolition and/or restoration for the following:
• Operation of hand tools, power tools, testing devices and equipment, machinery
• Lift 50 lbs. without assistance
• Knowledge of chemicals used in cleaning and water treatment
