Job summary

The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department seeks a Creative Arts Instructor to lead stained glass, knitting, woodworking, or Latin style dance classes at the Senior Center. The role is part-time hourly and emphasizes a positive, supportive learning environment for community members.

Applicants should plan engaging lessons, monitor progress, and help participants develop skills. Evening/weekend availability is required and a background check will follow a successful offer.

Qualifications

• At least six months of informal experience or knowledge in the area and genuine interest in working with desired populations.
• Previous educational or learning experience in specialized area of instruction is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be acquired within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active supervision of class participants and ensures safety.
• Plans and prepares progressive, age-appropriate lessons in the specified area.
• Utilizes guidance strategies to redirect participants and encourage participation.
• Conducts respectful interactions with participants and families and communicates progress.
• Manages classroom space, setup and cleanup of equipment and materials.
• Ensures safe use of tools, equipment, and space specific to the activity.
• Manages inventory and communicates purchasing requests.
• Complies with City and department policies; attends staff meetings and trainings.
