Job summary

The City of McDonough is seeking a part-time Court Bailiff to support Municipal Court security and operations in McDonough, GA. This role focuses on protecting judges, supervising inmates, and maintaining order in the courtroom.

Responsibilities include courtroom access control, reporting, and emergency response. Requires P.O.S.T. certification, GA driver’s license, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 0–1 year of related experience.
• P.O.S.T. certification in Law Enforcement required; taser or ability to become taser certified.
• U.S. citizenship and valid State of Georgia Driver’s License; satisfactory MVR and criminal history.
• Must meet departmental firearms qualification standards; possess and/or control of a firearm.
• Ability to operate a computer and prepare basic/comprehensive reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct courtroom searches for weapons and contraband prior to court.
• Lock doors, turn off lights, and maintain security in the courtroom.
• Inspect persons and packages; respond to suspicious activity with appropriate action.
• Provide security and safety, make arrests if necessary, and escort prisoners.
• Assist during emergencies and manage routine court logistics.
• Maintain professional demeanor and operate department vehicles as needed.
