Description

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an individual to join our team as a Part-Time Courier in Birmingham, AL. This position is responsible for transporting blood and blood products to and from customers and other LifeSouth branches. It also involves preparing items for shipment, verifying, and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing materials.

Shift

2nd Shift/Evenings: 5:00PM - 10:00PM

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Inspect delivery vehicle daily to ensure all supplies are present, clean, in proper working condition, and compliant with all laws.
• Package and deliver blood products to clients or other transportation agencies.
• Collect blood products from mobile sites or clients and deliver to the laboratory.
• Run errands, deliver documents, pick up supplies, and transport small items for repair.
• Load, unload, and deliver materials to and from the branch and customers.
• Operate hand truck to move shipments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and meet LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements.
• Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and on-call hours.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, percentages, etc.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 70 pounds, grasp, and perform repetitive motions. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving over 150 hospitals across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. We are dedicated to providing high-quality blood components and services through more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles, and 2,000 blood drives monthly.

Additional Information
