Job summary

Sonoma State University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach graduate-level courses in Counseling within the Department of Counseling. The position supports the MA programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, with emphasis on multicultural awareness and hands-on field experience.

Qualified applicants hold an earned doctorate or master's in related fields, eligibility for California licensure, and demonstrated university teaching ability.

Qualifications

• Earned Doctorate in Counseling or related field; or a regionally accredited Masters in Counseling/Counseling Psychology.
• Eligibility for clinical licensure in California (MFT, PCC, or Licensed Psychologist).
• Clinical/counseling experience with diverse populations and intervention strategies.
• Ability to teach at the university level, preferably graduate level.
• Experience with CMHC MA program courses: Group Counseling, Substance Abuse & Dependence, Clinical Supervision.
• Ability to supervise practicum/traineeship students when considered for courses.
• Ability to articulate a theoretical orientation about clinical mental health counseling.
• Ability to work with diverse, multicultural populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate level courses within the Department of Counseling (e.g., Group Counseling, Substance Abuse & Dependence).
• Supervise practicum and traineeship/internship students when assigned.
• Contribute to curriculum development and student mentorship in the CMHC program.
