Job description

A growing consumer litigation initiative is seeking a qualified attorney to join its team in a part-time counsel capacity. The practice focuses on representing homeowners in disputes involving solar energy installations, home improvement financing, and related consumer protection matters.

This is an opportunity to work on an established and recurring caseload alongside an experienced legal team addressing allegations of undisclosed financing fees, sales misrepresentation, incomplete or defective installations, dealer fee disputes, and other potential claims involving solar financing companies and home improvement providers.

The initiative offers an existing client pipeline and substantial case-development support, allowing counsel to focus on legal analysis, case strategy, advocacy, and resolution rather than building a practice from the ground up.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate potential claims involving solar financing, installation agreements, dealer fees, and consumer protection issues.
  • Assist with the development and management of arbitration and litigation matters.
  • Review contracts, financing documents, sales representations, technical reports, and supporting evidence.
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with the broader legal team.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Draft and review pleadings, demand letters, discovery requests, motions, and arbitration submissions, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and review completed technical solar analyses.
  • Manage assigned matters in accordance with applicable court rules, arbitration requirements, and professional obligations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys on a substantial portfolio of cases, including opportunities for coordinated settlement efforts.
What the Initiative Provides
  • Recurring client flow: Access to an established pipeline of potential client matters.
  • Technical case support: Solar-specific technical analyses completed for applicable cases.
  • Expert resources: Pre-paid expert witnesses for qualifying matters, subject to the agreed arrangement.
  • Experienced collaboration: The opportunity to work with attorneys familiar with solar disputes and related financing issues.
  • Meaningful legal work: Exposure to arbitration, litigation, consumer protection claims, and settlement negotiations.
  • Part-time flexibility: An opportunity designed for an attorney seeking a part-time role, subject to caseload demands and agreed availability.
Qualifications
  • Active bar membership in good standing in the state where the attorney will practice.
  • Experience in civil litigation, consumer protection, arbitration, contract disputes, construction litigation, or plaintiff-side representation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate documentary evidence and develop practical litigation strategies.
  • Professional judgment and the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and experts.
  • An interest in solar financing, home improvement disputes, or emerging consumer litigation issues.

Attorneys with direct solar arbitration experience are encouraged to apply, but candidates with transferable litigation experience may also be considered.

Compensation

The anticipated annual compensation range is $40,000–$75,000, depending on experience, qualifications, anticipated workload, and the final structure of the engagement.

The position is intended to be part-time. Specific hours, caseload expectations, work arrangement, and compensation structure will be discussed with qualified candidates.
