Job summary

Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, NY is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents and support a safe, efficient kitchen.

You will follow production sheets, standard recipes, and therapeutic diets while maintaining food safety and quality in a resident-centered environment. A HS diploma and kitchen experience are desired, with familiarity in HACCP preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Culinary School preferred.
• Minimum 6 months kitchen experience.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, modified textures, and portion control preferred.
• Familiarity with HACCP regulations and safe food handling preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve menu items according to production sheets, standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and modified food consistencies
• Ensure proper food handling, portion control, storage, labeling, dating, and temperature monitoring per food safety regulations
• Assist with inventory management, stocking, and proper storage of food and supplies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen while following infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures
• Prepare meals for special events and functions as needed
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report hazards, maintenance concerns, accidents, or incidents
• Provide guidance and oversight to Dietary Aides in the absence of supervisory staff
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures
