Job summary

Hamblen County School District at Fairview Marguerite Elementary School seeks a Cafeteria Worker to maintain a clean work area and equipment while assisting in food preparation and serving students and staff from the cafeteria counter. A background as a substitute in the School Nutrition Program is preferred, along with the ability to pass health requirements and read, write, and understand English.

The position operates under a 179-day contract with compensation aligned to the School Nutrition

Qualifications

• Experience as substitute in the School Nutrition Program so that with appropriate training employee may serve in the specific role for which employed
• Physical examination, to include a tuberculin test or lung x-ray upon being employed
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Meets health and physical requirements

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of food portions and prepares cafeteria counter
• Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work area
• Cleans work tables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, tables, counters, and furnishings
• Washes pots, pans, trays, and dishes
• Maintains the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion
• Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job
• Attends all school system inservice meetings and training classes for cafeteria workers
• Observes all state and local regulations relating to cafeteria operation
• Abstains from the use of tobacco and alcohol while on the job
• Performs other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

1. 179-day contract; hours per day determined by school need
   1. 177 student days (adjusted accordingly with school cancellation due to inclement weather)
   2. 2 days for inservice or other assigned duties
2. School Nutrition hourly salary scale
