Job summary

StoryPoint is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare meals for residents, guests, and staff. The role follows planned menus and standard recipes, with shifts from 7am-3pm and 11am-7pm.

You will plate, garnish, and ensure correct seasoning while supporting fellow kitchen staff and maintaining a clean, organized station. The position emphasizes food safety, patient/customer relations, and a professional appearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma (or equivalent) or technical school.
• A minimum of three years of line cook experience and/or training.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food for residents, guests, and employees.
• Prepare food according to the planned menu using standard recipes.
• Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions.
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensure that sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared.
• Communicate shortages or outages to supervisor.
• Ensure freshness, cooking status, and proper seasoning of all foods served.
• Stock and clean station for next shift.
• Follow proper food rotation policies.
• Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
• Be knowledgeable of resident rights and maintain an atmosphere of privacy, dignity, and well-being in a safe environment.
• Maintain safety including universal precautions, fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, sanitation, and security.
• Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
• Present a professional appearance by wearing the uniform and name tag.

General Working Conditions

This position entails standing for long periods. The employee should be able to communicate effectively, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle equipment. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Moderate noise level. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
