Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Marketing Department is seeking a computer scientist to join our digital marketing research team studying how people interact with websites. We’re building websites and studying how users interact with them. Work can be done remotely but may require coming into a lab on occasion if necessary.

The computer scientist will be compensated monetarily while gaining research experience by collaborating with digital marketing experts. The research team consists of Sean Melessa, a tenure track professor at PSU; Paul Hoban, head of ad measurement at Air BnB; and Poet Larsen, a doctoral candidate at USC.

The exact amount of work required is to be determined based on the needs of the project, but it’s estimated that a total of 20-50 hours of work will need to be completed between February and May 2025. Further collaboration opportunities may be available based on the applicant’s performance and fit with the project. Applicants with computer science experience and/or education are preferred but not required.

The position requires experience in:

  1. Python/C++ (or another backend language).
  2. SQL.
  3. JavaScript + HTML.
