Job summary

Saint Joseph Villa in Flourtown, PA seeks a compassionate Companion to assist Sisters with appointments and on-site care needs. The role includes accompanying Sisters to doctors, hospitals, and ER visits, providing emotional support, and helping with transfers and daily tasks within scope of practice.

A CNA is preferred, HS diploma or GED required, and PA driver’s license is expected. When not on appointments, duties include providing companionship at the Convent and Villa, responding to call

Qualifications

• Experience working with older adults.
• Ability to support Sisters' needs.
• Ability to communicate with healthcare professionals.
• Ability to collaborate with Partners in Mission.

Responsibilities

• Accompany Sisters to doctor appointments, hospital, and ER as directed; stay with them until return or discharge.
• Complete communication log for each companion transport.
• Verify ER destination before leaving for hospital and assist with return to the Villa.
• Provide emotional support and comfort during appointments and ER visits.
• Keep track of hearing aids, dentures, and glasses while with Sisters.
• Refer medical personnel to Nurse Liaison or shift supervisor for changes in condition.
• Assist Sisters in the Convent with walking and transfers.
• Respond to call lights and Sisters’ requests within scope of position.
