Job summary

Kindly Direct Care in New Jersey seeks a compassionate Community Companion to provide one-to-one support to a high-functioning adult with developmental disabilities in Mays Landing, NJ. You’ll help with community participation, daily activities, and fostering greater independence.

The role emphasizes consistent scheduling, reliability, and safe, person-centered guidance, with a part-time schedule and potential growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Warm, patient, dependable, and genuinely interested in building a consistent relationship.
• Able to reliably work the posted schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Comfortable supporting an adult one-to-one in home and community settings.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• DSP, mentoring, education, recreation, human services, or caregiving experience is helpful but may not be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one companionship and person-centered support.
• Help the individual participate in the community, including errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, social opportunities, and other community activities.
• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, self-advocacy, and life skills.
• Help the individual work toward goals identified in the service plan.
• Provide reminders, routine support, or light assistance as required by the case.
• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions.
• Complete required documentation and communicate reliably with the Kindly team.
