Job summary

Code Ninjas Dayton is seeking a Part-Time Coding Instructor to engage and mentor kids aged 5-17 in coding, robotics, and AI. You will deliver the curriculum, foster problem-solving and teamwork, and maintain a safe, fun learning space.

Ideal applicants are students or graduates with enthusiasm for technology and mentoring. Flexible 4-6 hour shifts weekly, with occasional camp opportunities, across from Dayton Mall in Dayton, OH.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 5 and up.
• Comfortable teaching and mentoring kids.
• Able to follow a curriculum and manage a classroom.
• Energetic, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Train through the curriculum and learn it.
• Teach and mentor kids using our coding curriculum.
• Help students develop problem-solving, creativity, and critical-thinking skills.
• Create a fun, positive and safe environment in which students can grow.
• Follow opening/closing duties daily.
• Clean dojo to maintain cleanliness per corporate standards.
• Report daily to Center Manager with respect to day’s activities and productivity in dojo.

Who are we?

Code Ninjas Dayton is the world’s largest and fastest-growing kids coding franchise, where kids ages 5-17 learn coding by building video games, Robotics & AI in a fun and inspiring environment.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Part-Time Coding Instructor to join our team of dynamic, energetic, forward-thinking minds, working toward our common goal: providing a fun and safe learning environment for children. This individual oversees the day-to-day coaching and student engagement.

Are you experienced in working with children? Would you enjoy teaching and building problem-solving skills in young engineering minds? Are you a high school student, Computer Science or Engineering college student, recent graduate, or a working adult passionate about technology and mentoring kids? This could be the role for you.

Responsibilities include:

• Training – go through the curriculum and learn it
• Teach and mentor kids using our coding curriculum
• Help students develop problem-solving, creativity, and critical-thinking skills
• Create a fun, positive and safe environment in which students can grow
• Follow opening/closing duties daily
• Clean dojo throughout the day to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
• Report daily to Center Manager with respect to day’s activities and productivity in dojo

Qualifications:

• Knowledgeable about coding and technology; Prior coding experience in at least one language is required
• Experience with Scratch, MakeCode, JavaScript, C#, or Unity is a plus
• Patient, dependable, energetic, and enjoys working with kids
• Working history with children ages 5 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring, child care etc.)
• Works well with others; collaborates
• Must be fun to work with and like working in fast-paced environments

Schedule:

Flexible 4-6 hour shifts/week, with additional 20-hour camp opportunities during school breaks.

• Tuesday, Wednesday: 4pm –8pm
• Friday: 4pm–7pm
• Saturday: 11am –3pm
