Job summary

Qualifications

• Know laws, ordinances and codes in Municipal Code, Zoning Ordinance and IPMC.
• Inspect structures and exterior areas per codes and maintain records.
• Explain code requirements to owners, occupants and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Inspect rental dwellings for compliance with Municipal Code, Zoning Ordinance and IPMC.
• Inspect properties in the field and take action to gain compliance.
• Advise on applicable codes and regulations to follow for compliance.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports as directed.
• Gather evidence, attend hearings and testify when required.
• Testify in court to enforce codes as adopted by the City of Pontiac.
• Post stop work orders on unpermitted work.
