Job summary

The City of Manteca is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to perform field investigations, inspections, and enforcement of zoning and related codes. You will respond to complaints, prepare notices, and pursue abatement actions to achieve compliance.

The role requires strong public interaction, report writing, and knowledge of municipal codes. A valid CA driver’s license and CACEO designation within 12 months are required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Two years of experience working effectively with the public.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve months of appointment, a CACEO designation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to identify code violations and document findings.
• Investigate complaints about municipal, zoning, housing, development, building, and signage codes.
• Issue notices of violation and other compliance documents.
• Coordinate follow-up abatement and prepare cases for legal action.
• Provide information to violators and the public about codes and regulations.
• Maintain records and prepare written reports.
