Job summary

Lone Star College seeks an adjunct nurse instructor to teach Continuing Education courses, focusing on Certified Nursing Aide preparation. You will develop syllabi, deliver instruction across lecture, lab, and clinical settings, and assess student progress in alignment with TDHHS and college guidelines.

Position is part-time, with classes offered day/evening/weekend at various Texas locations. Prior teaching adult learners and supervising Nurse Aides is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensed in Texas.
• At least two years of nursing experience.
• Completed course of teaching adult students, or adult teaching experience or experience supervising Nurse Aids.

Responsibilities

• Teaches Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program.
• Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following established institutional guidelines.
• Instructs students in lecture, on-site laboratory, and off-site clinical facilities, correlating theory with the practice of basic nursing care for residents of long-term facilities in preparation for the state certification examination.
• Complies with state requirements established by the TDHHS and Lone Star College program expectations.
• Performs ongoing, written student evaluations in the Texas Nurse Aide Performance Record and evaluates student comprehension by administering tests.
• Evaluates students by various means and informs them of progress.
• Submits required college reports and forms.
• Provides timely access to students through office hours and electronic communication.
• Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
