Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System's School of Nursing in Kansas City seeks part-time Clinical Teaching Assistants to support student learning in clinical, lab, and simulated settings, reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs.

Qualified applicants hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and an active RN license in Kansas or a compact state, plus at least one year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or a multi-state license via NLC.
• One year of relevant patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing feedback on direct patient care and clinical assignments to support student learning, development, and safe clinical practice.
• Guide students in various clinical care areas, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
• Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives.
• Foster a learning environment that develops students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Collaborate with nursing faculty to prepare for clinical, lab, and simulation instruction.
• Create a clinical learning environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits.
• Apply and enforce student-related policies and standards in accordance with KUMC policies, including addressing issues related to student conduct, performance, and professionalism.
• Utilize institutional technology systems to support instruction, communication, grading, and documentation.
• Evaluate student progress using established program and School of Nursing methods.
