Job summary

The Environmental Services Worker II at Community Health Systems is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining hospital facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

This role handles floor care, waste disposal, linen handling, spill cleanup, and general cleaning in accordance with infection control standards, with attention to regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques.
• Ability to safely handle biohazardous/infectious waste per infection control standards.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment maintenance and proper usage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing of various flooring surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of waste, including biohazardous materials, per policies and guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
• Respond to spills and perform disinfection and safety precautions.
• Maintain cleaning logs and document completed tasks.
