Job summary

DCH Health System is seeking a Hospital Environmental Services Technician to clean and service building and patient areas according to established procedures and schedules.

This role requires following verbal and written instructions, lifting up to 20 lbs, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients, families and staff. Onsite work with standard shifts and training will ensure adherence to infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to follow/understand verbal communications and written procedures; must be able to verbally communicate with others.
• Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleans assigned areas following procedures; includes patient rooms, walls, doors/frames, ceilings, furnishings, windows; may refinish floors as required.
• Dust, damp mop, vacuum floors; vacuum carpets; spot-clean carpets; collect waste; clean waste receptacles; clean compactor area; distribute clean linen.
• Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed; return unused supplies; clean carts and equipment; replace items in an orderly manner.
• Operate cleaning equipment (buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums).
• Report broken furniture or equipment to supervisors daily.
• Cleans and services building areas, including medication storage areas, per procedures and schedule.
• Maintain secured access to medication storage areas when assigned; alert supervisors if medications found in unlocked areas.
• Provide training for new hires and others to the units.
