Job summary

The Gateway Instructor II for Programs at Clear Destination Inc. is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach people of all ages, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community.

The position involves top rope belaying for participants and facilitating games/activities, including adult introductory belay, bouldering or technique skill classes, all while managing risks for participants during our various programs.

Qualifications

• Passion for climbing, yoga, or fitness and community engagement.
• Willingness to learn from others and collaborate to achieve goals.
• Interest in working with both children and adults to support transformative experiences.
• Relentlessly positive and upbeat attitude to inspire others.
• Prior climbing experience required; prior instruction experience preferred.
• Ability to work 6–10 hours per week primarily on weekday afternoons and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate transformative climbing experiences while managing risks for participants and the community at large.
• Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
• Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
• Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
• Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
• Develop skills to effectively communicate with others and listen to other perspectives to build partnerships.
