Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to operate at a Marion, IA client site. The role runs 30 hours per week with shifts Monday-Thursday 8am-2:30pm and Friday 8am-12pm, performing phlebotomy on a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, labeling, and timely communication with staff. Candidates should have a high school diploma and phlebotomy credentials or related experience; EMR knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification or 1+ year phlebotomy experience in healthcare.
• EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate.
• Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records. Areas of concern reported to supervisor or manager.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
• Must effectively procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients.
• Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor.
