Job summary

Central Ohio Youth for Christ is seeking a patient Class D Driver Training Instructor to provide comprehensive classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction for teens age 15–18 and adult students 19+. The role blends structured lessons with hands-on coaching to build safe driving habits and prepare students for the Ohio BMV exam.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
• Hold a valid driver's license for at least five years.
• No history of driver's license suspension.
• Two or fewer active points on Ohio BMV driver abstract.
• Pass FBI/BCI background check.
• Pass the required state-regulated physical examination.
• Possess Ohio Class D Driver Training Instructor license.
• Meet Ohio requirements for providing driver education and behind-the-wheel instruction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the state-approved 24-hour Class D driver education curriculum.
• Teach Ohio traffic laws, defensive driving, and safe-sharing practices.
• Present information clearly and engage students appropriately.
• Prepare students for the Ohio BMV knowledge exam.
• Provide ~8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction per teen, as required.
• Evaluate progress and maintain training records.
• Maintain a safe, organized learning environment.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress when applicable.
