1st Choice Driving Academy in Lewis Center, OH is seeking a passionate and patient Class D Classroom Driving Instructor to help shape safe, confident drivers. This is a classroom-only, part-time afternoon to evening role with potential for full-time in-car instruction.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Class D license held at least 5 years.
• OS DPS approved driving instructor certification or ability to obtain (training provided).
• Teaching or classroom facilitation experience preferred but not required.
• Solid knowledge of Ohio traffic laws and safe driving practices.
• Strong communication and classroom management abilities.
• Patient, dependable, professional with young or first-time drivers.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements.

• Teach defensive driving techniques and hazard awareness in a classroom setting.

• Communicate student progress and concerns to parents, guardians, or administration as needed.
• Stay current with Ohio BMV regulations and driver education requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging classroom instruction covering Ohio traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices
• Teach defensive driving techniques and hazard awareness theory to student drivers in a classroom setting
• Maintain accurate student attendance records and progress documentation
• Create a positive, structured learning environment that encourages student participation
• Administer and grade written tests and quizzes in accordance with curriculum standards
• Communicate student progress and concerns to parents, guardians, or school administration as needed
• Stay current with Ohio BMV regulations and driver education requirements

Requirements:

• Valid Ohio Class D Driver's License in good standing that has been held for a minimum of 5 years
• Ohio Department of Public Safety approved driving instructor certification or ability to obtain as we will provide paid training
• Prior teaching, instructing, or classroom facilitation experience preferred but not required
• Strong knowledge of Ohio traffic laws, road rules, and safe driving practices
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Patient, dependable, and professional demeanor with young or first-time drivers
• Ability to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements
