Job summary

St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel, MD is hiring an Adult Chancel Choir Director to oversee musical preparation, rehearsal, and direction for Sunday Masses and designated liturgical celebrations.

The director should foster a prayerful, welcoming, and musically excellent choir ministry rooted in Catholic liturgy, with experience directing choirs, strong piano skills, and the ability to work with diverse volunteers.

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic in good standing or respectful of Catholic liturgical tradition.
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead and work with volunteers and bilingual services.

Responsibilities

• Direct weekly Adult Chancel Choir rehearsals and prepare for scheduled liturgies.
• Prepare and conduct the choir for Sunday Mass and major liturgical celebrations.
• Select and teach sacred choral repertoire in consultation with Music & Liturgy director.
• Provide musical leadership during rehearsals: technique, diction, phrasing, blend, intonation, rhythm, dynamics, interpretation.
